This is a regional longitudinal cohort project evaluating the medium- and long-term body composition, cardiometabolic and physical activity effects of treatment for severe acute malnutrition. The project is following various cohorts of children who were previously treated for acute malnutrition in Malawi, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia. We are contributing a cohort of adolescents and young people treated for acute malnutrition in the Nutrition Rehabilitation Unit (NRU) at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital between July 2006 and March 2007 and their age and sex-matched community controls.
